Why Dallas sucks and why I'm moving to Europe.

I'm in playoff HELL.

For the past few weeks, I have followed two sports very closely: hockey and basketball. Now, since the Dallas Stars (my second home team) managed to get themselves kicked out of the playoffs and my first home team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, didn't have a chance in hell of making the playoffs, I've been rooting for the only remaining Canadian team to make it to the Stanley Cup Finals. Yes, my loyalties are to the land up north if my second home team doesn't make it all the way.

So, you can only imagine my sheer disappointment when the Edmonton Oilers lost in Game 7. Don't get me wrong. The "'Canes" played an absolutely amazing game and even though the Oilers tried to make a comeback, it was a little too late. What made me almost vomit is that some of the fans, who probably didn't even know what hockey was until the Hurricanes made it to the playoffs, started calling it "Redneck Hockey." Are you fucking kidding me? Please don't insult my sport. There's just no need for it. So there was my disappointment #1.

Now on to #2. I had so much faith, so much stupid, stupid faith, that the Dallas Mavericks would kick Shaq's sorry ass, along with Wade and the rest of the Miami Heat team, that I would have bet my last $20 on it. But no. N-O. What an effing disappointment. I mean, my blood pressure's now just coming down after watching the Mavs lose game after freakin' game. Unreal, I tell you.

So given my utter disgust with North American sports, I figure I still have the World Cup. Yes, the World Cup. In Germany? Happens every four years? The entire world watches it and maybe, oh, let's say, 10,000 Americans, if that? You would be surprised how many people have no idea this is even going on. I mean seriously. Get your heads out of your sheltered, ignorant asses and see what else is going on in the world. It's the bloody Olympics of soccer! (sorry, futbol). And I can guaran-effin-tee you now that the US is no longer in the WC, that those 10,000 US fans that did watch, will be cut in half.

What gives folks? Why do we only care about what happens at home? I mean, kids play soccer but then they turn 15 and then it's only cool to play football or baseball. We need to get connected with the rest of the globe!

Alright. That's enough bitching for one day. I'm gonna go catch up on some World Cup highlights. ONLINE. Because even the News doesn't cover the sport.

Next post will be from Italy.
